  2. 2 cup all purpose flour
  3. to taste Salt
  4. 5 tbsp refined oil/ghee
  5. 1/4 cup beetroot juice
  6. 1 tsp Turmeric powder
  7. 1/2 tsp Orange food colour
  8. 1/2 tsp green food colour
  9. For satha
  10. 6 tbsp corn flour
  11. 6 tbsp pure ghee
  12. For frying
  13. As needed oil to fry
  14. For garnishing
  15. 4 tbsp Powdered sugar

Steps to make to make Chirote khaja

  1. Knead a soft dough with all purpose flour,salt and ghee.
  2. Divide the dough into 6 equal parts.
  3. Now colour each part with a different colour by mixing green,orange and light orange colors, beetroot juice, turmuric powder. Leave one part plain.
  4. Now divide these colored balls into 2-2 even smaller balls.
  5. Roll each ball into very thin rotis.
  6. Mix corn flour and ghee to make satha. Apply satha over one colored roti, sprinkle flour over it, place another same colour roti over it, repeat the process.
  7. Roll these different colored rotis tightly into a log placing one colour over other.
  8. Cut this log into 1/2 inch pieces.
  9. Roll these pieces lightly to make chirote.
  10. Fry these colorful chirote in oil on medium heat until they turn crisp.
  11. Let them cool, sprinkle sugar powder over them. (you can also coat them in sugar syrup).
  12. Store in an airtight container and relish eating for about a month.
